Issara Sritaro tried to explain the reasons for Thailand’s defeat to the U-22 Indonesian National Team in the top match of the 2023 SEA Games, Tuesday (16/5).

“Actually our turning point was the third goal, we fell and we lost,” said Sritaro.

Apart from that, Irfan’s goal also led to clashes between the camps which made Thailand and Indonesia lose players. Sritaro also admitted that losing players while being left behind was a big loss.

The U-22 Indonesian National Team coach Indra Sjafri explained the chronology of the commotion that occurred in the 2023 SEA Games final against Thailand, Tuesday (16/5).

Before Indonesia won over Thailand, there were at least two moments of commotion. The incident was told by Indra Sjafri in the post-match press conference.

“I see today should not have happened [keributan], but I saw when the score was 2-1 it became 2-2 there was one Thai official why did he have to celebrate with us. So I think this is something that should not be done,” said Indra Sjafri.

It is not the first time that Thai goalkeeper Soponwit Rakyart has become the culprit of a commotion such as the match against the U-22 Indonesian national team in the 2023 SEA Games final.

Soponwit acted emotionally in the hot match between Indonesia vs Thailand in the first round of extra time. The 22-year-old goalkeeper was caught hitting the U-22 Indonesian national team player, Komang Teguh Trisnanda.

Komang Teguh replied to Soponwit’s unsportsmanlike action. The Borneo FC player threw a counter-punch even though it looked like he missed Soponwit.
