While the brakes were on, Rodriguez told KABC that he was worried he wouldn’t be able to accelerate if he slowed down.

“I was nervous that someone was going to hit me,” he said.

And while he was able to successfully pull off the road and be towed for repairs to his car with the help of a California Highway Patrol officer, Rodriguez said Tesla didn’t give him many details about his car’s breakdown.

Tesla said in a report that the cause of the car freezing was “miscommunication from the charging port gate, causing the power conversion system to shut down,” Rodriguez told KABC.

KABC attempted to contact Tesla’s public relations team, which: quietly dissolved in 2020.
