Country Manager Tesla Singaporean Christopher Bousigues just got hit layoffs by the electric car company after only about a year of work. The story he wrote on LinkedIn has gone viral.
Elon Musk as the CEO of Tesla some time ago announced that he would lay off about 10% of Tesla employees. Christopher claimed to be among the victims. Prior to Tesla, he was an executive at the software company SAP.
“Tesla announced a 10% workforce cut. My position was selected for elimination today,” Christopher wrote in a post a few days ago on LinkedIn.
“I am proud to be Tesla’s first country manager in Southeast Asia and to build its business in Singapore,” added the man from France.
“Over the past year, my team and I built the business from the ground up, made the Model 3 a common sight in Singapore, built 2 showrooms, 2 service centers, developed 7 superchargers across the island and successfully launched Tesla Model Y with good response.”
“I thank everyone who has supported me on this journey. When something like this happens, you wonder what is the best course of action and whether to be careful or stay silent. But that’s not me. Transparency and honesty are non-negotiable for me, so “Sharing this news feels like the right thing to do for my network. I believe when one door closes another gate opens.”
Furthermore, he said he would return to Europe with his family for a short vacation. The post on LinkedIn has garnered more than 11,000 reactions and about 430 comments.
Many netizens support Christopher. “What a positive thought even when your company doesn’t realize how loyal and committed you are. Tesla, you guys have lost a gem,” one commented.
“Christopher, sad to hear this news. You deserve much better company and a more attractive position with all your great achievements in Tesla. Good luck on your next adventure,” wrote another.
