German FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André Ter Stegen underwent surgery on his right knee on Tuesday and will be absent for two and a half months, announced the Catalan club.

“The operation on the patellar tendon of the right knee carried out by doctor Ramon Cugat on the player of the first team Marc-André Ter Stegen was a success,” said the club in a statement, specifying that the time of absence is about two and a half months.

The 28-year-old German goalkeeper, who has suffered throughout the season from this right knee, will therefore miss the pre-season and the start of the season of FC Barcelona, which will resume with the Spanish league on September 12.
