TENSE HEARING IN SERIOUS PENALTY

IŞIK AND GÜLCE ARE IN COURT AGAIN…

The organized assassination in TRNC took place on February 8, 2022. Members of the bloody assassination team, Ömer Tunç, Veysel Sare and Musa Çiçek, who were involved in the assassination, were brought before the Kyrenia High Criminal Court again. At the hearing, the two closest witnesses to the bloody assassination, Türkistan Gülce and Halil Işık, were heard as witnesses. Defense lawyers cross-examined Işık and Gülce, who explained what happened on the day and night of the incident.

“I RUN AWAY 60-70 METERS”…

Regarding the night of the incident, Türkistan Gülce said, “I did not see anyone when the shooting started,” and claimed that after the shooting started, she ran 60-70 meters west from the scene, and after the gunshots ended, she fired 2 shots into the air. According to his statement at the Gülce High Criminal Court, “After the shooting ended, I came to Halil Falyalı’s car. “I did not see those who fired during the incident,” he said. Gülce said that he did not remember whether there were any civilians at the scene and that the scene became crowded after the incident.

HE DID NOT SEE ANY CIVILIAN!…

Halil Işık, who was brought to court as the 9th witness of the prosecution, described the night of the incident in his statement and claimed that he did not see Türkistan Gülce when the fire was opened and that he was next to the “protection” vehicle. When defense lawyer Süleyman Özsoylular asked if there were any civilians at the scene after the incident, Işık replied, “No, there was no one.” Then, recalling the statement of Ender Faikoğlu, one of the first eyewitnesses of the incident, the Defense Office said to Işık, “I claim that you are not telling the truth,” and a short-term tension ensued. Halil Işık persistently denied that he was a civilian at the scene immediately after the incident.

TENSION BETWEEN THE DEFENSE LAWYER AND THE WITNESS IN THE HALL…

Işık claimed that on the night of the incident, the late Halil Falyalı fired 3 shots into the air after his car started to be shot, and that the shooting stopped 5 seconds after he fired. Özsoylular said, “You are security, you did not do your duty correctly. “You thought about your own safety when the man you were obliged to protect was killed,” he said, adding, “Do you believe that you did your duty correctly?” asked. There was a short-term tension between the Özsoy family and Işık over the issue.

THE DECISION WAS MADE BY “LOOKING” AT THE FIRST STATEMENT GIVEN TO THE POLICE…

Işık stated that on the night of the incident, after the shooting stopped, he went to the victim Halil Falyalı’s car, and Turkestan Gülce later came from the west. He stated that on the day of the incident, after the assassination, they gave different statements to the police in order to gain time to attend the funeral, and then gave additional statements voluntarily. Defense Lawyer Süleyman Özsoylular said, “Did you decide to give your first statement together with Türkistan Gülce? That’s what you both say. Did you decide to make this statement at the time of the incident? Did you decide by looking at each other? Halil Işık answered the question “Yes”.
While the hearing was postponed to 11.30 on Thursday, November 23, 2023, the verdict hearing at the Istanbul 36th High Criminal Court will be held on November 16 (tomorrow).
