“Ten-Year Legal Battle: Tony Vairelles and Brothers Face Three Years in Prison for Nightclub Violence”

It’s a trial that has been going on for ten years now. Tony Vairelles and his brothers have been on appeal since Tuesday before the Nancy court for violence committed when leaving a Nancy nightclub in 2011. Three years in prison are required against them.

Same penalty as at first instance

The Deputy Attorney General, Bernard Marchal, is asking for three years in prison for the Vairelles brothers and three to four months of suspended imprisonment for the three nightclub exit night watchers. A sentence similar to that required in the first instance trial.

Three people injured by gunshot

Tony Vairelles and his brothers are accused of having opened fire and injured three guards in the parking lot of a nightclub in Essey-lès-Nancy, in Meurthe-et-Moselle. At the time, “three people were shot and injured in a very short period of time.” Carlos Di Napoli, one of the nightclub security guards, was shot in the stomach, his brother Baldassare was shot twice in the hands, and their colleague Peter Gerdum was injured in the thigh. “We know that it was during the clash between the Vairelles brothers and the Di Napoli brothers that the bullets were fired, there is no doubt“, underlined Bernard Marchal.

A mysterious shooter mentioned by the Vairelles brothers

The deputy prosecutor questions the version of the Vairelles clan, and points the finger at the personalities of men “brawlers“. The brothers put forward the thesis “of a mysterious gunman who would have come to their defense without anyone seeing him?” However, continues, the deputy prosecutor, “No weapon was found on the scene. However, we know because of the caliber of the bullets found, that at least two shooters acted.”

A deliberation on July 6

Facing them, security guards “who have never had a single conviction” insists the prosecution. For his part, the lawyer for the four Vairelles brothers, Me Virginie Barbosa, pleaded for release. She emphasizes that her clients have no “no locker”, apart from a speeding ticket and a neighborhood quarrel “at most.” The former player has always claimed his innocence. The decision was reserved for July 6.
