The ‘People around you’ feature was added in June 2019 and allowed you to share contact details with users around you, as well as join local group chats. However, the update provides the opportunity to show the profile to other Internet users.
To activate the function, it is necessary to open ‘Contacts’ and choose ‘Search nearby people’ to see Telegram users in the area. At the same time, it is possible to hide the device when selecting the option ‘Don’t show me’.
