Teen hits a man in a wheelchair in Texas

Authorities said the pedestrian sustained severe injuries that endangered the victim’s life.

(NEWS NOW) .- The Austin, Texas City Police Department reported on Sept. 12 of the arrest of a young minor who hit a man in a wheelchair.

The events occurred in the parking lot at 9,200 N. Lamar Boulevard on the morning of September 3, Austin police said.

Authorities said the pedestrian sustained severe injuries that endangered his life.

Within the images shared by the police, the man can be seen crossing the street, when he notices that a pickup truck is approaching, so he tries to signal him to stop, but passes over the man.

Although the young man fled after having invested the subject, the police managed to find the location of the car and the suspect responsible for the accident, Pablo Antonio Avila-Banagas, identified as a 17-year-old Hispanic.

Avila-Banagas was cautioned in Travis County Jail on September 9 this year. Austin Police Department reported that Pablo Antonio is charged with non-stop and aid delivery, third degree offense, injury to a disabled person, second degree offense, illegal possession of a firearm and failure to identify with this case.

The investigation is still ongoing.
