The multicultural hall of the town hall buzzes like a beehive. About ten large masked elves are busy preparing Christmas gifts for the elderly deprived of their traditional end-of-year meal. Two hundred and fourteen stacked Ma coop boxes waiting to be filled with local products. And it’s a real chain that is put in place, from the filling of small boxes to the decoration with frizzy ribbons. Mayor Guy Gatounes, between two missions, comes to lend a hand. Muscat from the Saqué estate, honey from Jean-Jacques Blanch, Jacques Aspart and Étienne Arnaudiès, cheese from Maryline and Pascal Guillemand, organic and fair trade chocolate pouch, country pâté from the Mirailles Parcé family from the Mont Capell farm in Saint-Laurent -de-Cerdans, and finally the pretty greeting card from the pupils of the Pont-de-Reynès school. Two-person households also benefit from an apple juice from Jacques Dunyach and a second cheese. The distribution begins immediately, the elected officials proceeding by neighborhood to bring a little fun to the elderly.
The municipal staff also benefited from the attentions of the town hall. As gatherings were banned, the ritual of vows took place in a fragmented manner, around meals delivered by the Casot de la Farga and the Court-bouillon du Pont-de-Reynès. Each agent, as well as the staff assigned to the schools, was given vouchers with a total value of 150 € to be used with traders and producers in the area.
