ROME, March 12 (Xinhua) – A charter flight carrying a nine-member Chinese medical aid team and several tons of medical equipment arrived at Rome’s Fiumicino airport on Thursday evening as part of China’s efforts to help Italy to contain the epidemic of new coronavirus.
A large Airbus A-350 from China Eastern landed at around 10:30 p.m. local time in the airport cargo area, where it was greeted by a crowd of local Italian Red Cross experts and delegates from the Chinese Embassy in Italy.
The Chinese team of experts left Shanghai early in the day, carrying critical care and medical protective equipment with them.
This team was set up by the National Health Commission and the Chinese Red Cross Society. This is the third team of experts sent abroad by the Chinese authorities, after the teams deployed in Iran and Iraq.
