He was always very nice to me and to all the new and young players. It’s sad to know that he’s going to retire. “
Fritz will again this year participate in the Laver Cup for the world team.
The American recalled the last edition of the team event, made special by Roger Federer’s last official match: “To be present on the day of his retirement, to be able to talk to him, to shake his hand, these are things I will never forget.
Of course, winning the tournament and being able to celebrate it with the whole team was special. Having a group of guys to party and have fun with is even better. I think it was one of the best moments of my tennis career, because I got to party with a group of close friends.
Fritz could meet Djokovic at US Open 2023
As in the Cincinnati Masters 1000, Taylor Fritz found himself in the same draw as Novak Djokovic at the US Open. The American had a nightmarish first set at the Western & Southern Opena set in which he failed to win a single game.
Fritz managed to make the break and found better continuity of service. But Djokovic raised the level again in the last part of the set and beat the American hands down.
