Taxi drivers denounce the “unfair competition” of hybrid bikes

Several dozen taxi drivers gathered on Monday June 29 in front of the Secretary of State for Transport, at the call of the union of United Taxi Tenants (LUT), to demand more licenses and less laxity towards hybrid bikes, noted an AFP journalist.

We have requested an appointment with the Secretary of State for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, explained to AFP Milan Dejanovic, general secretary of the union LUT, which denounces the opacity of the prefecture in the issue of licenses.

The LUT union indicates that of the 600 licenses created in February 2019, only 200 have been distributed.

” Unfair competition “

A tenant of taxiis someone who rents the car and the plate for 90 to 120 euros per day. You have to make an average of 170 euros per day before earning the first penny for your family, for the fridge!, assure Milan Dejanovic.

These tenant drivers demand more control of the platforms VTC. We ask for the repeal of the horokilometric package, underlines the secretary general of LUT. He considers that this package is not not fair for the profession knowing that VTCs apply a free price and denounce a lax state. Chafik, tenant of a license, deplores a unfair competition.

Access to help due to overly restrictive coronavirus

The rental drivers also criticize the VTC platforms for resorting to marauding physical or electronic to identify customers, while this use is reserved for taxis. The hybrid bikes that steal our customers before our eyes, it’s not normal, testifies a taxi driver.

Their claims also relate to the alleviation of the conditions of eligibility for exceptional State aid against the economic crisis linked to Covid-19. The LUT union believes that the criteria to benefit from this aid are so drastic that 70 to 75% of our colleagues do not have access to it.
