In fact, with his new hit, the popular pop musician Tarkan (whose full name is Tarkan Tevetoglu), who owns such cult songs as “Shakdam” and “Dudu”, returned to the world of show business after nearly five years of absence, writes BTA. He had released his last album in 2017.
During this time, Tarkan married and he and his wife Panar settled in Germany. In 2018, the mother and father of a little girl named Leah became happy.
With his new hit “Getch Check”, Tarkan “returned like a fury” and shook Turkey, and it seems that the reviews will continue for a long time. On YouTube, the singer said that he wrote his song during a period of depression, which affected him under the influence of the pandemic, due to disturbing world events and the destruction of nature.
“It all had a negative effect on me, I felt hopeless,” he said. I will warm my soul. I told myself that I should write a cheerful song that will come in handy for all of us in these difficult times, that may comfort us, create mood, hope. I hope that the song will bring a smile to your face which will be welcome. “
The title “Getcheck” is a slang version of the phrase “pass / pass” and is very popular, which is a signal that it is addressed to different segments of society.
At the same time, the hit sparked controversy, with a political focus.

Opposition Good Party leader Meral Aksener and many opposition lawmakers shared the song on their social media accounts. Many people share on social media that although the song is dedicated to the pandemic, there are other hints in the text (social).

Musicologist Mahmut Canar of Gazeta Duvar described Tarkan’s new song as a “protest pop”.

It is not easy to unite the coronavirus with a stylish song, which also impresses the feelings of the people burdened by the difficulties of the economic crisis, which is a result of the policy of the current government. But that’s what makes a performer a star; yes, this is Tarkan, he wrote.
In the video for the song Getch Chek, directed by Irfan Yıldırım, Tarkan plays a hacker whose face is depicted on billboards in Istanbul and on the screens of people’s electronic devices. The video includes people from different walks of life – working in their homes because of the pandemic, distance learning students, health workers, drivers and passengers in public transport, security guards and others.
An interesting point is that Tarkan is also shown in the meta universe of a child wearing virtual reality glasses.
The video was shot over four days in Istanbul in about 20 different locations, with about 30 artists and a team of 60 people.
