Tallink Grupp’s new ship MyStar – Events is being christened today at Rauma Shipyard in Finland

Today, the newest vessel of the Tallink fleet, MyStar, which is also the most environmentally friendly vessel in the Baltic Sea, is christened. The ship is being built at Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) shipyard in Finland, where on August 12, 2021, at At 13:00 Finnish time, a special baptism ceremony is also planned. Due to the circumstances of the pandemic, the ceremony will be held with a limited number of guests, while other guests and interested parties are invited to join the ceremony via an online connection.

The baptism ceremony will be attended by the President of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaidas, who will be the godmother of the new ship MyStar. In accordance with the shipbuilding tradition, the ship will be officially named MyStar at the time of baptism, as well as its buoyancy will be tested when the dry dock is filled with water and further shipbuilding work will take place inside the ship.

The new MyStar, powered by liquefied petroleum gas, is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and innovation that meets all currently known regulations on emission standards, thus taking a step towards the introduction of emission reduction technologies.

Together with Tallink’s current flagship Megastar, the new MyStar will operate on the Tallinn-Helsinki route from mid-2022, making the two vessels the greenest bridge across the Gulf of Finland between the Estonian and Finnish capitals to date.

I am pleased that today, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, we can meet in Rauma and celebrate this important event, which is important not only for Tallink Grupp’s MyStar project, but also for a viable, sustainable and environmentally friendly future for the entire shipping industry. The next major milestone in the construction of Tallink’s new route vessel MyStar is the completion of the vessel and its delivery to Tallink Grupp, scheduled for the first half of 2022.

After the construction of the ship is completed in 2022, MyStar will start operating on the Tallinn – Helsinki route.
