Taliban ‘Home’ World Airlines Serves Flights to Kabul

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Afghan government under control Taliban asked international airlines to return to Kabul Airport. They claim all the technical problems at the airport have been resolved.

Service at Kabul Airport was largely restored with the help of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.

As quoted by AFP, Sunday (26/9/2021), the facilities at Kabul Airport were badly damaged due to the chaos of the evacuation of more than 120,000 people ending August 30, 2021. Since then, only flights charter operating. However, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), Iran’s Mahan Air and Afghanistan’s Kam Air have run a number of special flights.

On the other hand, the international community wants the Taliban to keep their promise that they will allow anyone to leave the country once commercial flights resume.

Currently, airlines such as PIA and Kam Air charge more than US$1,200 for flights from Kabul to Islamabad. Although relatively expensive, there is still excess demand.

Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi said the Taliban hoped that commercial flight services would resume soon.

“Many Afghans are stuck outside in horror and unable to return to their homeland. In addition, many Afghans who have jobs or continue their education abroad are now facing difficulties in achieving their goals,” he said.
