Take your dog out every day, soon an obligation in Germany – society

A daily walk that should even take place morning and evening.

Owning a pet brings a lot of happiness but also involves some essential constraints for the well-being of the animal. Starting by allowing him to go out to stretch his legs and do his business daily, even if we are sometimes in a hurry in the morning or exhausted in the evening, when returning from work. An obvious fact despite everything for many masters but not for all unfortunately. So much so that in Germany, the Minister of Agriculture wants to force owners to take their dogs out twice a day as reported The Guardian. Concerned about the likely lack of exercise for the country’s 9.4 million dogs, the government plans to finalize a law from 2021 to force owners to take their pets out at least twice a day.

Walking, a vital need for dogs

Julia Klöckner, Minister of Agriculture, relied on scientific studies advocating the need for dogs to have a minimum of activity and environmental stimuli. And for good reason, as the member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) reminds us “dogs are not soft toys, they also have their own needs, which must be taken into account”.

One hour ride twice a day

This bill should require dog owners to take their pet out at least twice a day, for one hour each time. No need to urge him to do his business to get back up as quickly as possible. The good news is that doggies should feel happier and healthier, and so will you!

20% of German households affected

This law would concern many people knowing that nearly 20% of German households own a dog. But will everyone be able to apply it to the letter? And how to be sure? Finally, will dogs having difficulty moving and those living in a house with a garden be subject to the same regulations? Response in 2021.
