Tailor dreamed of an NBA draft as a little boy

Vlastimil Vacek, Right

“The draft is a day I dreamed of as a little boy. It will be a great experience,” Krejčí said in an interview with PPGSport, which represents him. He could become the first drafted Czech since 2012, when Washington reached for the current Chicago Satoran player.

“Communication with the teams took place mainly after I signed up for the draft. Mostly a few people from the team gathered there and each asked some questions. Both personal and around basketball. It was clear that the teams are not only interested in the player’s basketball side. , but also about what kind of person he is, “said Krejčí, who signed up for the draft in mid – April. “I know that the work is just beginning for me. But I’m really looking forward to the journey. I’m curious where it will take us,” Krejčí said at the time.

A native of Strakonice, he has been working in Spain for 14 years and gradually worked his way into Zaragoza’s first team. Last February, he made his Czech national team debut in a home game in Pardubice against Bosnia. In September, he did not make it to the World Cup in China, where the team of coach Ronen Ginzburg won the historic sixth place. During the last narrowing of the nomination, he did not fit into the staff together with Šimon Puršl.

Currently, however, Krejčí is coping with health problems. At the end of September, in a Spanish league duel against Real Madrid, he tore his front cruciate ligament in his knee and had to have surgery. He will have many months of convalescence.

“The knee is healing great. The first month is extremely important and I think we managed it well. Now we are moving slowly step by step and I feel better every day,” Krejčí described his current situation. “It is necessary to watch well how the knee heals, but we assume that by the end of the month I should be able to walk normally again without crutches. Then we will see, I still have a long way to go, but I think we are well on our way,” Krejčí added.
