SYRIZA: Kasselakis determined to remain in the presidency regardless of the outcome of the European elections – 2024-02-28 22:59:18

“The delegates decided – and we all have to respect that – that there will be no elections for president, despite what happened and the sad image of the conference,” said Christos Spirtzis, speaking to SKAI and giving an account of the four days.

“Every day, both the party and all of us and the president of the party are judged”, he underlined and answered a question about whether SYRIZA will go to new internal party elections in case of a bad result in the European elections:

“We are not Far West. The competent bodies will meet, they will assess the result and we will see what we will do.”

The former minister ruled out a new split. “I think we will go together unless there are other things that cross the lines” he pointed out meaningfully…

Although Christos Spirtzis – as well as other top officials – leave all possibilities open if SYRIZA does not achieve its electoral goals in June, Stefanos Kasselakis declares that he will remain in the leadership of the party.

“I will remain the leader of SYRIZA until the next national elections. I have a huge mandate from the party members to do exactly this and I have a mandate to transform SYRIZA accordingly” he emphasized in his interview with ERT yesterday.

“Anyone who wants to challenge me is happy to challenge me. If I have to win again, I will win again. There is no such thing. It’s not about arrogance. The members spoke…” he characteristically said.
