Swedish record by Henriksson “Be ready today”

She has sniffed at it before, but during the Nordenkampen Julia Henriksson managed to lower the Swedish record for 200 meters indoors to 23.06. “It’s crazy, I’m so happy,” says Julia Henriksson.

Julia Henriksson has started the season strongly and had already touched the Swedish record in just 200 meters indoors. And today was the day when she finally got to erase Irene Ekelund’s eleven-year-old Swedish record of 23.15 from 2013.

The new Swedish record is 23.06.

– It’s crazy, I’m so happy, What a day, I can’t take it in. It’s a good atmosphere here and it’s a national team competition, so you get extra excited. And Henriette ran really well right before me. I was ready today, says a happy Julia who also says that she has been striving towards this for a very long time.

– I felt that “this is not impossible”, so I would just focus on mine and just drive.

Julia had the race in her hand from start to finish and led the whole way. When she crossed the finish line, the clock stood at 11:08 p.m., but it was corrected down another two hundredths to 11:06 p.m. Earlier this winter she had run in 23.16.

Julia Henriksson’s time was enough for a victory in the Nordenkampen, a hundredth ahead of the Norwegian cannon Henriette Jæger. The other Swede in the 200 meters, Josefin Nilsson, finished seventh in 24.19.
