Sweden’s meeting with Russia turned out to be a real nail-biter in the end. The opponent initially took the lead, but the Swedes were on the hook and quickly picked up points during the second round of the semifinals.
At first, it looked like it would be an even match against Russia – a tough opponent for Sweden that team Hasselborg lost to in Lillehammer on Saturday. When the fifth round was decided, it was still 2-2, but in the sixth round Russia took two points. After two scoreless rounds, Sweden managed to equalize to 4-4 before the last regular round.
