Sweden eases access rules for nationals of 14 non-EU countries, including Morocco

Stockholm – Sweden on Thursday announced new exceptions to an entry ban, effective July 14, for travelers from 14 non-European countries, including Morocco.

The list of nationals of non-EU countries now authorized to access includes, in addition to Morocco, Algeria, Australia, Georgia, Japan, Canada, Montenegro, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, Korea from the South, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay.

Citizens of these countries will be allowed to travel to Sweden for any purpose, including tourism, the Scandinavian country having no quarantine rules in place for foreign visitors and no evidence of a negative coronavirus test. is required.

Visitors are, however, required to follow health and safety guidelines for coronaviruses, such as social distancing and avoidance of public transportation, especially during rush hour.

Travelers from other non-EU / EEA countries will remain barred until August 31, but the government announced new exemptions starting July 4 for people with new residence or student permit who have not yet moved to Sweden.

Today’s decision follows the European Council’s recommendation to allow entry from third-country nationals from July 1, as the EU gradually begins to lift border restrictions against coronaviruses .
