Swabs at the border: the Italy-France agreement to protect themselves from the virus

The circulation of the virus is growing in the rest of Europe and Italy is considering protecting itself, according to the scheme already adopted for Spain, Croatia, Greece and Malta. Since the heavier situation at the moment is in France, the idea is to impose the buffer also on all those who return from that country. This time, however, unlike what was done for the other four states, reciprocity will be triggered. It means that even those who will go beyond the Alps from Italy will have to take the test. Among other things, the same thing should also happen to those who go to Spain.

The news was announced yesterday by Undersecretary for Health Sandra Zampa. «There is already an interview initiated by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, with the French government – he said – The issue of reciprocity is being evaluated. Not only with France, it is also being imagined with Spain, that is, inbound and outbound control pads. I believe that this can be a choice that protects ».

But we also move to make checks on internal movements. From tomorrow in the Tuscan ports of Piombino and Livorno will be active points to swab those returning from Sardinia and leaving for the island. Tuscany moves after Lazio but has decided to go further, because the test will be proposed, regardless of destinations and areas of origin, even in the most important stations.

It dates back to the 12th of August the act with which Hope has imposed a swab on Italians or foreigners returning from Croatia, Greece, Spain and Malta. For the rest of the states that are part of Schengen, plus the United Kingdom and excluding Bulgaria and Romania, no precaution is currently envisaged. For those arriving outside that area, instead, 14 days of fiduciary isolation in Italy is required.

Furthermore, depending on the place of origin, entry for tourist reasons may or may not be allowed. In fact, there are countries from which you can only enter for work or health reasons.
Regarding France, the scheme will be the one used for the four European countries. Therefore, those who demonstrate that they have taken the swab with negative results in the 72 hours prior to entering Italy will not have to repeat the test. Those who arrive at the airport or where points will be set up to carry out swabs (for example drive in on the highway at the border) will be able to swab immediately or go to their destination, put themselves in isolation and notify the ASL to take the exam within 48 hours . With the negative result obviously you can exit.
