The first shots of the new film were shot by the crew in the garages of the shopping center. An aging writer goes shopping with his wife. He is distracted. He is not very good at writing. And the characters from his own stories come into his life. “The man is so similar to me that it’s almost me. We just thought that it should be even more comical than I am in civilian clothes, “says actor and screenwriter Zdeněk Svěrák.
Jan Svěrák describes that he composed his father’s short stories himself, and then he invited his father to help him “tell” them. There are even three generations of Vices working on the film. The film will be edited by František, the director’s son and the grandson of the main character. The continuation of the family tradition also makes a film about the film.
“While working with my dad, I found out that while my other peers have only seen each other with their parents for Christmas or birthdays for years, I have a relatively intense relationship with him, because we still liven it up by working together. And if I involve my children in this way, it could last me longer, “says director and screenwriter Jan Svěrák.
Kolářová plays Svěrák’s wife again
It is said that Zdeněk Svěrák did not shoot anything for a long time and was afraid that he would be “played out”. “I think Honza is aware of that, he knows about me, that I like to be praised, so as best he can, he praises me for every stupid thing to play better and better,” he smiles.
In front of the camera, Zdeněk Svěrák has also met Daniela Kolářová several times as a wife. “I like working with him because we understand each other. I don’t think it is necessary to pretend, “Kolářová thinks.
According to Svěrák, Kolářová is also an ideal choice. “She has proven herself, she understands our humor perfectly and she can be beautifully ironic, she can wipe me out,” adds Zdeněk Svěrák. Filming will take place in Prague until the end of May.
The State Fund for Cinematography has previously stated that the short story comedy in the story of an aging writer, who freely transitions between reality and fiction in writing, wants to refer to films such as the Grandhotel Budapest, Wild Stories or Amélie of Montmartre with his visual style and creative concept.
