SV and the governing party agreed on a crisis package – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

On Friday, the Labor Party, the Socialist People’s Party and the Socialist People’s Party agreed to extend and strengthen several economic measures to mitigate the effects of infection control measures and high electricity prices.

– I am very happy that we are now in agreement on a powerful package that ensures security for the job and that has enabled the health service to handle the corona crisis.

That is the victory of the leader of the finance committee in the Storting, Eigil Knutsen from the Labor Party.

The party has negotiated a joint proposal from the government, which covers both electricity assistance and measures to remedy the financial consequences of infection control measures that were introduced before Christmas.

The package contains these measures:

  • Extension wage support in February: 300 mill.
  • Strength of low-threshold mental health in the municipalities: 100 mill.
  • Voluntary program for visits and activities for vulnerable elderly: 20 mill.
  • Compensation, collective ticket revenue: 880 mill.
  • Preventive measures, mental health among students: 20 mill.
  • Measures against violence and abuse: 5 mill.
  • Extraordinary support for children and youth organizations: 4 mill.
  • Increase the current compensation in the housing allowance to NOK 2,500: NOK 256 million.
  • Electricity support students, 100% scholarship: 282 mill.
  • This is in addition to the package from the government of about 20 billion kroner.

It has our clear demands from SV in the negotiations on this crisis package. They have put forward demands for strengthening welfare, with increased staffing in schools, kindergartens and health.

The Center Party emphasizes 880 million more for public transport, as one important says in the negotiations.

Around the county, many struggle with low occupancy, not least on local and regional bus routes.

We have now put in place a compensation scheme that lasts until 1 August. These are some of the things we are most satisfied with, says Geir Pollestad (Sp).
