Sustainability at the center of the 2024 edition of the International Fisheries Industry Forum in Morocco

The city of Casablanca will host the “International Forum of the Fisheries Industry in Morocco” on May 15 under the theme “Collaboration for Sustainability: Crossed Perspectives of Research, Development, and the Private Sector”. This event will bring together key players in the fisheries industry, government officials, researchers, private sector companies and international partners to explore pathways to sustainability in the fisheries sector.

For the organization, this 2024 edition of the Forum aims to share the progress made by Morocco and other countries in the responsible exploitation and preservation of marine resources, in order to create a dynamic platform where public and private actors as well as international partners will be able to exchange the best experiences and knowledge necessary to address sustainability challenges and forge innovative solutions: ”The main objective of this conference is to share experiences and propose innovative solutions to strengthen the sustainability of fishing industry, in its 3 economic, social and environmental dimensions, with emphasis on the entire life cycle of seafood products…A meeting during which all stakeholders will be able to exchange and collaborate. The Forum will also be a moment to allow them to inspire each other and commit to making the Moroccan fishing sector an example of sustainable performance,” the organizers said.

The work of the forum will see the participation of the Minister of Agriculture Mohamed Sadiki, the president of the National Federation of Industries for the Processing and Valorization of Fishery Products (FENIP) Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, the SG of the Ministry of the Department of Marine fishing Ms. Zakia Driouech. They will be accompanied by national and international panelists from Saudi Arabia, Italy, Spain, Tunisia, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Senegal) to share their experiences in the field of the processing industry and valorization of products of the fishing.

The event will feature the participation of around 20 panelists and the organization of nearly fifty B2B meetings. Several panels addressing various themes in this area will enrich the program.
