European aircraft manufacturer Airbus wants to cut 15,000 jobs

Due to the corona crisis, Airbus is forced to make major cuts. The European aircraft manufacturer plans to significantly reduce the workforce in the coming year: of the nearly 135,000 jobs, 15,000 will die:

  • Everything together 6,000 in Germany (before the corona crisis, 900 jobs had to disappear at subsidiary Premium Aerotec)
  • 5,000 in France
  • 1,700 in the United Kingdom
  • 900 in Spain
  • and everything together again 1,300 in other locations

The company has no (longer) branches in Belgium. Airbus announces that this is the start of social consultation. But the employer is therefore committed to negotiating and is heading for a loss of 15,000 jobs by the summer of 2021.
