‘Suspicious’ man in lumberjack shirt turns out not to be a kidnapper but a father walking with a 5-year-old son: ‘Theim didn’t want to wear shoes in the woods’ | Nijmegen eo

updateNIJMEGEN / KRANENBURG – The police took the report of two female riders seriously. They saw an adult man in a lumberjack shirt on Saturday evening walking into the Reichswald, the woods around Cleves, with a young child. A girl they thought. Remarkably, the child was wearing pajamas and was barefoot. Maybe something was wrong, so they raised the alarm.

The police started working on the case. A curious scene, she called it. A search was launched for the man and the child. Without result. Until now.

Because the red-haired man in a lumberjack shirt turns out to be Steven de Groot from Rotterdam, who lives in Kranenburg. He was taking a walk in the woods with his son Theim. “Theim did not want to wear shoes in the woods,” De Groot said on his Facebook profile.
