The German suspect in Maddie McCann’s case has also been linked to a sex offense near Portugal’s Praia da Luz. That took place in 2007, a few weeks before the British toddler disappeared while on holiday in Portugal.

3-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared on May 3, 2007 from the vacation home her parents had rented at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz in the Algarve. The child disappeared while the parents were eating with friends a little further away. In early June, the German justice and police surprisingly announced that they suspect the 43-year-old German Christian B. of the kidnapping and murder of “Maddie”.
Another investigation into Christian B. The German prosecutor reported Friday. He gave no further details. According to German media, the 43-year-old suspect has been linked to a sex offense in April 2007. He allegedly masturbated in front of a 10-year-old girl from Germany. The incident happened about 6 miles from Praia da Luz, where McCann disappeared in early May of the same year.
B. is a sex offender who is detained in Germany for multiple crimes and suspicions. He lived intermittently in the Portuguese Algarve from 1995 to 2007 and was convicted of, among other things, a rape in 2005 in Praia da Luz. The German Public Prosecution Service (OM) suspects B. of murdering Maddie. In June, the OM announced that he is in the picture as a suspect.
