Survey: 87% of the population believe that respect for each other has decreased during the pandemic – in Latvia – News

The main reasons for the lack of dignity and humanity are the fatigue from the pandemic – 74% of the respondents indicated it, but 60% mentioned the anger about the current situation in the country.

The majority or 81% of respondents believe that the lack of respect for each other has contributed to hatred and aggression, 80% think that the increase in aggressive comments in the digital environment and in the opinion of as many – the polarization of society.

Also, in the opinion of 71% of the population, the lack of dignity has also contributed to the lack of solidarity, according to 57% of the respondents – social alienation, but 65% believe that the lack of dignity has also contributed to protests against vaccination.

In order to find out the opinion of the population about the dignity and humanity in the Latvian society during the pandemic, Tele2, in cooperation with the research company Norstat, conducted a survey in November this year, in which 706 respondents participated.

During the “#DariNevisNaido” social campaign, a number of well-known people on social media will encourage people to think twice before making derogatory and offensive comments about others and other opinions that they would never be allowed to face. Instead of making such comments, Tele2, along with well-known people, will be invited to donate to the Children’s Clinical University Hospital’s “Courage Box” project.
