A little surprise from Apple this evening. IOS 13.6.1 has just been released. It is an unexpected update for the iPhone and the iPad, with some minor bug fixes. The latest version of iOS 13.6 dates from July 15th. Then we thought it would be the last update to iOS 13.
Well we were wrong! iOS 13.6.1 fixes a small number of bugs. The update is timely because a bug that caused the screen of some iPhone models to distort at high temperatures has been fixed.
Bugfixes in iOS 13.6.1
More precisely, these three problems are solved:
- A bug that prevented automatic deletion of unnecessary system files has been fixed. As a result, the iPhone or iPad frees up storage faster when the available space is low.
- A problem with the thermal management has been resolved. This caused some iPhone displays to glow green (this problem maybe?).
- Fixes an issue that disabled exposure notifications for some users.
iOS 14 is coming
Apple is now working hard on iOS 14, the next big update for iPhone and iPad. Possibly iOS 13.6.1 was really the last update for iOS 13, although we can no longer say for sure. Previously, when a major new iOS version came out, Apple no longer released updates for older versions. This year, however, that changed, because iOS 12 became updated regularly while iOS 13 was already out.
