Skin YakidLike thousands of Argentines, he joined the adventure of emigrating just over a year ago, when his wife was given the opportunity to work in the city that never sleeps, New York. Immediately, they packed their bags and set out on the journey towards the American dream.

He is a content creator, but upon arrival in the new country he also had new ideas. “I always made content for someone else and being here I said ‘well, I’ll see what comes out’. One day I went for a walk looking for ideas and I saw a lot of things on the street and I said ‘tomorrow I’m going to make a video with this’, I already had the title thought of: ‘Can I equip a house with the garbage What do the Yankees throw into the street?‘, and that video blew up, badly,” he told TN about the beginnings of the famous “Surgeoned by New York”.

Thanks to the great success of the videos where he furnished a house with the things that the Americans threw away, it occurred to him to fill a backpack and raffle it among his followers. (Photo: video capture)

As a result of this first video, Teri Yakid’s networks exploded and that idea was a before and after in his life. “People responded and there were all kinds of comments, people who were outraged by what he was doing, others who thought it was wonderful and so on,” he added, saying that the dynamic was so liked that he had to make several videos with this idea until it at one point “it got him tired” and he began to think “how could I give it a twist”.

From that point arose the famous “teri yakid backpack”. The idea was to grab a backpack, properly speaking, or a bag that someone has thrown away and from there start to fill it with things of a certain theme. Then when she was ready, he raffled among his followers and sent them to him, no matter what part of the world they were from.

Equip a house, fill backpacks and do charity

The “surgery” had an acceptance and fascination of the public that Teri never imagined in her life. As a result of that he was able to create two sections on his channel. In one of them he raffles some things with his followers and in another he does charity. “I look for an institution that needs things and I send them to them. Now I am putting together three boxes full of things to send to three guys from Venezuela.”, he detailed.

“This can be achieved by two things. First of all, there is quite extreme consumption here, you always want to have the latest. And second, people have the purchasing power to do it, ”he confessed, and in connection with this, he highlighted that the neighborhood where he “surges”, Park Slope in Brooklyn, is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in New York.

A curious fact that stood out from the first world is that “there are specific days to throw away certain items.” “You can’t get what you want when you want because the state of New York fines you,” he added.

Thanks to what some call “garbage” in the United States, he managed to make life a little more enjoyable for those sectors that are having a hard time.. “It doesn’t matter how expensive it is, whether it’s an appliance or a stuffed animal, the impact it makes on the person who receives it is incredible. And all this as a result of something that was lying on the street, ”he said, still surprised at what he does week after week.

The decision to emigrate “is not for everyone”

“My wife and I decided to come here for work and because the economy in Argentina was getting worse. We always had the idea of leaving at some point, it was given to us and we are super grateful, but emigrating is not for everyone,” said the young content creator.
