JCB it’s a multinational britannica which for some time has established itself as a protagonist in the agricultural, construction and logistics sectors, creating the necessary machines. However, they don’t do it traditionally. Indeed, the company’s goal would be to drastically reduce them emissions of CO2, as well as the acoustic ones. Precisely in this regard, Lord Bamford, president of JCB, said: “We are trying to reach a world without carbon emissions“.

Already in 2018, they had made a 100% electric mini excavator, but to witness the company’s great work in the field eco friendly it is directly their latest creation. This, after passing 12 months of tests spent in a UK quarry, was recently presented to the public. Is called JCB 220X and it is the first excavator in the world to be powered by hydrogen.

The JCB 220X it has a fuel cell, which is powered by hydrogen. The operation of the excavator was later revealed in part by the same company: “Power is generated by reacting hydrogen with oxygen in the fuel cell – they explain – creating the energy needed to activate the electric motors“.

An alternative solution, but one that could bring great advantages, especially in light of the performance that the world’s first hydrogen-powered excavator has been able to provide. In fact, during the 12 months of experimentation, the prototype of this large zero-emission machine has demonstrated reliability in terms of durability and functionality.

This type of power supply therefore represents a non-polluting innovation, since water simply flows out of the drain, and is almost totally noiseless.
