South African Sundowns coach Pitsu Musimani confirmed that winning the Champions League is not easy, given the difficulty of competition between clubs in recent years.
Musimani said in comments published by the South African newspaper, Citizen, that the difficulty of winning continental club tournaments frequently has become difficult all over the world.
“Winning the African Champions League is very difficult, look at what is happening in South America, who crowns the Copa Libertadores frequently? Also, in Europe we have Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern and big clubs, so where are they from the coronation in the last four years?”
He continued: “Pep Guardiola has been searching for the Champions League crowning since 2011 when he crowned her with Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti has been searching for since 2014 with Real Madrid, Juergen Klopp won the title only once in his career, when was Jose Mourinho crowned her for the last time?” .
He added: “Do you know when Al-Ahly crowned the last title of the Champions League? Do you imagine the pressure that this team is suffering from? Zamalek and please also want the Champions League, but winning it is not easy.”
He concluded: “We have to change the way we think about it because if we look we will find that we won the championship in 2016 and we are now in 2020, have we tried? Yes, and we reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals, but this means that we need more effort.”
It is worth noting that Sundowns bid farewell to the African Champions League competitions in its current version of the quarter-finals after Al-Ahly succeeded in eliminating it from the competition.
