The ongoing uncertainty due to the pandemic is clouding the prospect of a carefree vacation. Because if you book your summer vacation now, you risk problems. Cancellation, unforeseen quarantine, tedious negotiations with tour operators, airlines and hotels about refunds, vouchers or rebooking are conceivable.
How far can such risks and the associated costs be insured? A survey of seven travel insurers shows that there are significant differences. Mobiliar and Generali flatly refuse to cover costs in connection with the pandemic. The furniture offers new Travel insurance currently only with a Covid-19 exclusion. After all, Generali mentions the usual insurance cover for all illnesses: “If a trip cannot be started due to a corona infection, there is coverage.”
