Summer Season of Art and Culture in Camagüey: A Preview of Exciting Events and Performances

Right at the AHS headquarters, its members, the press and artists from different manifestations reviewed what will be happening at the beginning of next month as a summer option in this city, also called the cradle of Literature of the largest of the Antilles.

One of the members of the Association and director of the pop-rock group, D’Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Villanueva, assured that for the band “it is an honor to be in this cultured city that defends our music.”

“Because the important thing for us is to work and it is up to us, our young generation, to defend and catapult, save music, art, put everything at the service of our country,” said the musician.

In exchange with the press, the artist also assured that the CD “Vuelos” has been made available to the public “although the material has not come out as an album, we also like to look at the legacy of creators such as Vicente Feliú with our music.”

Inspired by the example of Fidel Castro, who was one of the greatest promoters of the artistic movement in Cuba after 1959, members of the AHS advocated for a task that, beyond entertainment, can promote the most precious of culture and nationality.

Along these lines, like the Association’s project, Golpe a Golpe, the group founded in 2018, toured the municipalities of the most extensive region of Cuba.

For Yunielkis Naranjo, director of the Provincial Book Center, “it is necessary with each activity to bring all manifestations beyond literature, so Camagüey, which has more than 400 writers, in turn looks at variety with its activities” .

Naranjo assured that from August 9 to 13, with the celebration of the traditional Literary Crusade, “we will also have a fair called Old Friends, in which we intend to involve proposals for all ages.”

Camagüey, one of the cities with the greatest potential for artistic creation in Cuba, ensures that the proposals for the summer season also reach the international public, lovers of city tourism in the region.

Shows of the art of the tables have also taken place in the summer months, such as the recent presentation of the director of the Center for the Promotion of Humor, Kike Quiñones, who was at the emblematic Avellaneda Theater, right in the heart of the Historic Center, declared a World Heritage Site.
