“Sukabumi City Health Service Detects 652 Early Cases of Tuberculosis in 2023”

SUKABUMI– The Sukabumi City Health Service (Dinkes), managed to detect 652 residents early with Tuberculosis (TBC) from January to April 2023.

Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Sukabumi City Health Office, Drg Wita Darmawanti explained, of the total number of TB cases that were found, one of them died because it was drug resistant.

“If you look at the available data, TB cases are still high. This proves that the early detection was quite successful,” Wita told Radar Sukabumi, Wednesday (3/5).

Currently, continued Wita, in order to detect early TB, the Health Office is conducting a mobile test service targeting government and private institutions. “Officers routinely carry out TB tests in every government and private agency as an early detection effort,” he explained.

If positive for tuberculosis, continued Wita, residents can immediately take treatment for six months. “For six months the residents routinely take medication, if one misses it can result in RO (Drug Resistance),” he explained.

However, currently RO patients can seek treatment at RSUD R Syamsudin SH. “Yes, now RO patients can seek treatment at RSUD R Syamsudin SH, they don’t have to leave town anymore. All TB treatment is free of charge,” he said.

He explained, the symptoms that can be recognized for people who are attacked by tuberculosis. For example, having a continuous cough between two to three weeks and sometimes experiencing coughing up blood. “My chest hurts and I have shortness of breath.
