“Suits: LA” Spin-Off Starring Stephen Amell – Latest News, Cast, and Updates

Fans of the series “Suits”, which ended in 2019 but was only really successful again in retrospect, were just able to experience a double reunion. Now comes news about the hotly anticipated spin-off “Suits: LA”.

USA Network

The legal series “Suits” ran from 2011 to 2019 – and was extremely successful, as the nine seasons illustrate. But the series really took off in the USA last year, where it was streamed up and down on Netflix and even broke various records. This meant that the cast of the series was in great demand at the biggest advertising event of the TV season, the Super Bowl.

At the mega event, where products are often advertised with big names like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, the main actors Gabriel Macht (played Harvey Specter) and Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) appeared as a duo alongside other celebrities for a mobile phone company, while her colleagues Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt), Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson) and Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulson) advertised a cosmetic product.

Following this renewed surge in attention, the announcement of the main actor for the spin-off may have been very deliberately placed.

Stephen Amell in “Suits: L.A.”

Stephen Amell, who will be known to many series fans from the DC superhero series “Arrow”, becomes lawyer Ted Black for “Suits: LA”. After he had problems with the judiciary in the comic series and needed legal representation due to party escapades and of course his work as a vigilante, he will now act as such himself. As a former prosecutor from New York, Black handles crime and entertainment cases with his law firm in Los Angeles.

Jack Rowand/The CW “Arrow” star Stephen Amell becomes a lawyer.

The official synopsis for the series gives a few more details: “His company is at a crisis point. To survive, he must take on a role he has despised his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalty to both Ted and each other while they cannot avoid mixing their personal and professional lives. All of this occurs as events years ago that caused Ted to leave everything and everyone he loved behind slowly unfold.

The cast of the other roles should also be announced fairly soon. In addition, fans will of course be curious to know whether some of the well-known characters from the original series stopped by for guest appearances in the spin-off. Some of the actors have already publicly declared their interest. But you shouldn’t expect an appearance from Meghan Markle.

Aaron Korsch, who also invented “Suits”, is responsible for the spin-off. Filming for just one pilot episode is scheduled to begin in March. If this is well received and a whole season is subsequently ordered, it will then be shown in the USA on the major television network NBC. This is another indication of the franchise’s increased popularity. The original was broadcast at the time by the much smaller cable channel USA Network, which belongs to the same company.

Incidentally, a spin-off to “Suits” was already running on USA Network, the series “Pearson”, but it was canceled after only one season with ten episodes. But it launched right after “Suits” ended in 2019 and thus well before the new surge in popularity.

How the new series “Suits: LA” could come to Germany is still unknown. However, we think it is very likely that, after the success of “Suits”, Netflix will seek global streaming rights following the TV broadcasts if the project is given the green light.
