NEW YORK — A Suffolk County Police officer has been shot on Long Island, our sister network has been told. News 4 New York two police sources briefed on the investigation.
The incident apparently took place in Coram, around 1:00 pm on Thursday.
According to the sources, tourniquets were applied to stop the bleeding. The officer, who was taken to a local hospital, never lost consciousness and remained alert.
Our Telemundo 47 helicopter was over the scene where there was a strong police presence.
No additional information was immediately known, including if anyone is in custody.
