Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Raja Saudi Arabia Salman Bin Abdulaziz suddenly appeared in public. In a speech at the Saudi Shoura Committee Wednesday (12/29/2021), he gave the latest warning to Iran.
He asked the Mullah State to abandon its policies of destabilization and ‘aggression’ in the region. He also asked the country to cooperate in realizing peace and stability in the Middle East region.
“Iran is a neighbor of the Kingdom. We hope it will change its negative policies and behavior in the region and switch to dialogue and cooperation,” he was quoted as saying by Arab News, Thursday.
Saudi Arabia and its Arab and Western allies accuse Iran of supporting militias in the region at odds with the government. This includes Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen and the Hashd in Iraq.
Iran’s nuclear weapons program is also a concern. Saudi Arabia thinks this will make the region more heated.
“We follow with great concern the policies of the Iranian regime. Those that undermine security and stability in the region, including the formation and support of sectarian and armed militias, the systematic deployment of its military capabilities in regional countries,” said King Salman again.
“We (Saudi Arabia) will also follow up on the Iranian regime’s support for the Houthi terrorist militia, which is prolonging the war in Yemen, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis there, and threatening the security of the Kingdom and the region.”
Previously, Israel had threatened to take ‘precautionary’ measures unless the country of Ayatollah Khamenei stopped enriching uranium. Saudi Arabia previously also reported CNN International building ballistic missiles as a countermeasure against Iran’s nuclear arsenal.
