French Tech in New York is in mourning. Joseph Sartre, an important player in the ecosystem who resided in New York, died suddenly last weekend in Paris. The investor was managing partner ofInterlace Venturesa seed fund specializing in retail alongside Vincent Diallo, and partner of the family office Bleu Capital, owned by Jean-Pierre Chessé.
After studying business at ESC Paris, Joseph Sartre set up his first internship and job rating platform, Ratemystage, and cut his teeth at Minutebuzz before moving to Shanghai, China, to do business development at Danone. In 2016, he moved to the United States in New York to join the family office Capital Blue. In addition to his job as an investor, the man was invested in many organizations and causes: he was alumni and member of the board of the French American Schools of New York (FASNY), member of the retail innovation board of the NRF (National Retail Federation) and volunteer at the Bowery Mission. He was also a reserve soldier for the French Army. A great sportsman with a passion for cycling and triathlon, he was also a lover of cooking and mixology for dinners with friends, and appreciated African music, a legacy of his childhood in Djibouti.
