NEW YORK – Police are looking for a man who they say repeatedly hit and pushed an elderly woman, causing her to fall to the pavement, following some sort of confrontation on a Queens street earlier this year. month, authorities say.
The 69-year-old woman was getting out of her vehicle on Ninth Street shortly before 5 p.m. on October 1, when she had an argument with a man she did not know who was sitting in a vehicle behind her, police said.
The dispute quickly turned into a physical confrontation, which was caught on surveillance cameras. The images show the woman leaving her purse near the curb as she and the man, still in their vehicle, apparently exchange words. Then suddenly he comes out the driver’s side door and hits her as she raises her hand to ward off the blows. She tries to defend herself and he pushes her back, at which point she falls to the ground. She gets up when he leaves.
It is unclear what prompted the initial discussion. The woman refused to receive medical care at the scene, although she suffered pain and bruising, police said.
