Study warns of temperature anomalies / Article

The heat wave in North America and Europe would not be possible without global warming. This was stated by climate researchers in a new study. Data show that last June was the hottest in the history of North America and the second hottest in Europe. Special temperature anomalies have also been observed, surpassing previous heat records with an unprecedented surge.

A study by 27 climatic scientists, the World Weather Attribution, concluded that the heat waves recorded this summer were a climate anomaly that would normally affect the planet only once every thousand years, and “would not actually be possible” if human warming were not caused by human intervention.

The most statistically dramatic example of this last month was Canadian in the city of Litona recorded +49.6 degrees, which is four degrees more than the previous Canadian heat record. Such a leap has never been recorded anywhere on earth, forcing a review of existing climate research models:

“It simply came to our notice then. We thought it was impossible.

Therefore, we have to conclude that we do not know the heat waves as well as we thought.

And, of course, the key question now is whether this can happen elsewhere, ”said Gert von Oldebor, a researcher at the Dutch Meteorological Institute.

Scientists warn that man-made climate change has now increased the risk of temperature anomalies by at least 150 times. Half a century later, such waves could hit the planet regularly.

“Although these are still rare, such an extreme situation in the past would be virtually impossible. But in the future, we will see more and more such heat waves as global warming continues, ”warned Sarah Kue, a researcher at the Dutch Meteorological Institute.

In addition, high temperatures continue to affect Europe and other continents this month. In Europe, long-breaking records are now falling in the Nordic countries. For example, in the northern part of Finnish Lapland, which is behind the Arctic Circle, a temperature of +33.6 degrees has been recorded – the highest in the last hundred years. In the subarctic zone in Norway, on the other hand, tropical nights have been recorded for several days, when the temperature does not fall below twenty degrees even at night.
