JAKARTA, kilat.com- Origin world and subsequent developments have become source of interest to scientists. They have carried out a large number of tests to determine the source of life on this planet and it seems that the latest study could provide important answers to ancient questions.

A study by Yasuhiro Oba of the Hokkaido University Institute of Low-Temperature Science in Japan and astrobiologist Danny Glavin of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland hints at the fact that the materials needed for the emergence of life on earth may have come from outer space.

The research, published in the journal Nature Communications, includes examination of meteorites found in the United States, Australia and Canada. Meteorites were found to contain three of the five chemical components required for the formation of DNA. Two other components were also detected after the researcher adjusted the analysis system.

The meteorites examined in this study came from three different sources—one from the US state of Kentucky in 1950, one from Lake Tagish in Canada in 2000 and the third from Victoria in Australia in 1969. All of them are carbonaceous chondrites a carbon-rich rock material.

According to Yasuhiro Oba, the method used in the experiment did not include strong acids to extract components from the meteorite. As a result, this research further strengthens the theory that meteorites played a major role in the development of the world’s first living organisms. (nda)
