‘Studio Root’, an animation outsourcing production company that became a target of some male community users with the ‘index finger conspiracy theory’, held an offline briefing session on the 29th. Root tried to hold the briefing session by responding to anyone who asked for an explanation, but since no users showed up at the site, it was replaced with a press conference format.
Studio Root held a press conference and user information session at its office in Guro-gu, Seoul around 2 PM on this day. Previously, Root invited users to a briefing session through the Korea Game Consumers Association (Association). There were four users who expressed their intention to attend to the association, but no one showed up at the site. Association representative Kim Min-seong said, “We asked for your name and contact information to verify your identity, but there was no reply.” Some online community users were harassing Root employees by taking pictures of them and distributing them online, so they tried to take minimal identification procedures to prevent recurrence, but they did not comply.

Director Kim also revealed the entire work process for the Maple Story character ‘Angelic Buster (Enver)’, which was the first controversy. Root stated that tangible and intangible property damage occurred due to the index finger controversy. According to Root CEO Jang Seon-young, 60% of projects were canceled as of the first half of next year.
