Students from the IES Puerta de Mar in Almuñécar travel to Ireland on a language immersion course – Almuñécar Digital

A group of 34 4th ESO students and three teachers from the IES Puerta del Mar in Almuñécar left the bus station for Malaga airport today, where they took a plane to the city of Bray (Ireland) to take a course of linguistic immersion until April 6, as reported by the Center’s director, Valeriano Antequera, who together with relatives of the students went to bid farewell to the Sextian student embassy.

“This course includes various activities, not only learning English, but also cultural. Among them a visit to the Irish capital, Dublin, or an Irish dance workshop among many others”, explained Antequera.

The director of the Almuñecar institute recalled that this activity has been carried out by his center since the 2014/2015 academic year. “Its students are offered the possibility of taking a language immersion course as an ideal complement to improve their level of English. The destination has always been the English city of Broadstairs (United Kingdom), except in the 2017/2018 academic year, when they went to the Irish city of Bray for the first time. This course, due to Brexit, the incidence of COVID and the currency, Bray has been chosen again,” said Valeriano Antequera, who indicated that in 2019 it was the last trip, “since in 2020 we were a week away from that they would have gone when the confinement came,” he said.

In this training expedition, the students are accompanied by three teachers: Carlos Muros Vidal, Biology teacher (bilingual); Andrea Rodríguez Serrano, English teacher and Clara Valero García, Geography and History teacher (bilingual).
