The MLS season is over for the New York Red Bulls and trainer Gerhard Struber. The club from the “Big Apple” had to admit defeat 0-1 in the first play-off round Philadelphia Union. The decisive goal by Jakob Glesnes came in the 123rd minute, i.e. in extra time. In the losers, ÖFB legionnaire Daniel Royer came on as a substitute in the finish.
“Great progress made”
“I’m proud of my team, we’ve made great progress this season,” said Struber after the end. “Away you also need luck, but the game showed that we have a winner mentality.”
Struber’s contract, who played his first season as a New York coach, runs until 2023.
