Streamcom SG10: The Passive Cooling Computer Case for High-End Components

Many interesting things were introduced at Computex 2023 and one of them is the computer case Streamcom SG10. This is to passively cool the entire computer, in such a way that neither the case nor the components in it, including the CPU and GPU, will have any active cooling. It wouldn’t be so surprising for an economical PC, but Streamcom dares to cool even some of the most demanding Intel processors and high-end graphics cards in such a way. According to the manufacturer, it should be possible to passively cool up to a 350W graphics card (i.e. AMD Radeons RX 6xxx, RX 7xxx, GeForce RTX 3xxx and most RTX 4xxx) and a maximum of 250W processor.

Although the cooling for the CPU and GPU is identical, the processors cannot be cooled as efficiently due to the heatspreader. The manufacturer claims that if he removed the heatspreader and cooled the chip directly, even in the case of the CPU, it would be possible to go up to 350 W. Cooling here is handled by a tube leading to the evaporator, and the entire case is basically also one huge heatsink. Both steel and aluminum will be used here, but there will also be a version that will have some copper parts. The cabinet has dimensions of 608×268×520 mm and weighs 15 kg. It can handle an ATX format motherboard, a graphics card up to 280 mm in length, the ATX power supply can be unlimited in length. There are five 3.5″/2.5″ bays. There is one USB-C and two USB-A ports on the front. USB A/C, HDMI and RJ-45 can be brought out at the back.

At the fair, the solution was presented with an Intel Core i9-13900K processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 card, which means approx. 250 W + 320 W. While the fully loaded graphics card was able to be cooled down to a very respectable 60 °C, the processor from the above there were enough reasons for the problem and it was around 100 °C. However, the thermometers used were not exactly ideal tools for accurate measurements. The basic version of the cabinet will cost 999 USD (so about over 25 thousand CZK), the copper version will add about 20-40% more.
