Strawberry changes name after Stordalen sale – VG

TAKES OVER: CEO Håkan Rudels of Bonnier Books (fh) and CEO Alexander Henriksen of what will now be called Bonnier Norsk Forlag.

Strawberry Publishing now becomes Bonnier Norsk Forlag – and they are again applying for membership in the Publishers’ Association.

On Monday morning, CEO Alexander Even Henriksen informed the publisher’s authors about the name change:

“This is probably not a big surprise. But from New Year’s, we will change our name from Strawberry Publishing to Bonnier Norsk Forlag. », He writes in an e-mail to the authors.

This comes three days after that Petter Stordalen sold all the shares and left Strawberry Publishing – which he has helped build since its inception in 2018.

Now the Swedish book giant is taking control of the company – and the publishing group will become Bonnier in Norway as well. The name change will take effect at the turn of the year.

With the purchase of Stordalen’s last shares, Bonnier books went up to 83 percent ownership, while the publishers Jonas Forsang and Magnus Rønningen together with author Jørn Lier Horst still owned 17 percent of the company.

At the same time as they announce that the publisher is changing its name, the publisher announces that they will apply for membership in the Publishers’ Association – which they unsubscribed from earlier.

– The Publishers’ Association shows that they work very well politically, and we look forward to becoming a member and taking an active position in the work with the Book Act and other important issues for the book industry, says CEO Alexander Even Henriksen in what will now be Bonnier Norsk Forlag.

Håkan Rudels, CEO of Bonnier Books AB, says in a press release that they want to increase the ambitions of the Norwegian publisher.

In three years, Strawberry has managed to become Norway’s fourth largest general publisher, which is a fantastic starting point for Bonnier Norsk Forlag to build on. Now we are increasing our ambitions a notch, says Rudels.
