Students from the Commercial High School visited the “Open Day” initiative of the District Prosecutor’s Office

More than 30 students from Burgas Commercial High School visited the Burgas District Prosecutor’s Office to take part in the traditional “Open Day” campaign. The students were welcomed by the spokesperson of the prosecutor’s office, Hristo Kolev.

He introduced the guests to an interactive courtroom, where it will be possible to interrogate detainees online.

Prosecutor Kolev explained the unique position of each party in the courtroom and the role of each of them in the legal process.

After visiting the courtroom, the students went to the office of district prosecutor Georgi Chinev, where they spoke with him.

Prosecutor Chinev explained the regional scope of the Burgas District Prosecutor’s Office and what pre-trial proceedings the prosecutor’s office could manage. He also spoke about some of the most complicated issues of his nearly 25-year career.

The students, who are in the eleventh grade this year, showed great interest in the different types of knowledge that are assigned to experts to help prove the prosecution’s case.

They also asked questions about the legal punishment for drug-related crimes, road accidents with death, murder, and tax crimes.

After the debate, the students had the opportunity to take a picture with the prosecutor’s togas as a souvenir. Some of them were afraid to sit in the chair of the head of administration. There was also a gift for everyone who wanted it – the Bulgarian constitution.

The last part of the guests’ visit was the first-hand experience of the equipment in the mobile laboratory of the District Investigation Department at the District Prosecutor’s Office, which is used in the investigation of serious crimes.

The students were shown the different tools used to recover evidence from an accident scene and those that can be used to separate it. Fingerprints were also shown, and a large number of students were willing to give fingerprints.
