Flight KL 871 will take to the skies at around 8 a.m., the company expects. This is a result of consultations between various authorities. On social media, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is thanked by passengers for his involvement in the matter.
The 117 passengers, who come from the United States and Canada and who were in transit to India via Schiphol, were already on their way to New Delhi on Friday. Above Russia, however, the plane had to turn around, because because of the pandemic India no longer allows travelers to enter.
Nor were they allowed to enter the Netherlands, because an entry ban has been in place for people from outside the European Union since Thursday evening.
Most passengers camp until their departure from Schiphol. Only elderly and disabled people are currently still accommodated in hotels.
